Scholarship
The Kansas State Department of Education and Kansas Highway Patrol are conducting a Kansas School Safety Hotline scholarship contest directed at encouraging students to promote the Kansas School Safety Hotline. This contest is open to any Kansas resident who will be graduating from an accredited Kansas high school in the 2008-09 school year and will be attending an accredited postsecondary education programs in Kansas.
Three scholarships will be awarded in each of the following areas.
30-second public service announcement for television.
30-second public service announcement for radio
11 x 17 Poster
First Place Scholarship -- $1,250
Second Place Scholarship -- $750
Third Place Scholarship -- $500
Entries must be about school safety and include the Kansas School Safety Hotline telephone numberŅ1-877-626-8203. Topics may include school violence, bullying/cyberbullying, weapons/bombs, battery/abuse, etc.

Sons of American Revolution Essay contest
Open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. See Mrs. Ketterman for details. Deadline is Dec. 31.

College.gov is a new resource from the U.S. Department of Education created to engage, inform, and inspire students to pursue education beyond high school. Students need to check out www.college.gov to learn why they should go to college, what they can do to prepare, and how to pay for college costs.

Elk's Most Valuable Student Scholarship

National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship
